Understand that Bill is an engineer by profession and was in Georgann Cowles high school class. Reports have it that Bill took a shotgun approach with a wide pattern of shot to the problems in our local schools. Some of the shot hit its intended target while other pellets hit some innocent bystanders. Hope the budget still includes school nurses and counselors. We sold all 132 Poinsettias delivered Wednesday. Georgann will make another trip over to pick up more if we have any new orders. Call Georgeann at 254-2111 before Tues. She needs to give 2 days notice. They are 6 1/2 inch pot red poinsettias, fresh, and lovely. $7.50 each. 10 for $75.00. A box of 6 for $45. May be able to beat the price, but not the freshness and $2.90 donation for our fundraiser..... Euphorbia pulcherrima euphoria…. Fresh local Poinsettia Plants were originally planted in 5 inch pots which were unable to hold these ambitious specimens so they have been transplanted into 6 ½ inch pots.to be sold at the Dec 3, 10 and 17th Watsonville Rotary meetings. The grower is still holding the price at $7.50 each. Christmas Fundraiser for local cause. You help us decide. Call Georgeann Cowles (254-2111) if you want to put in a large order. Red is available for sure. Georgann is checking to see if other colors are available for the less traditional decorator. We have a Proposed New Member. Aquiles Borge is the new owner of the Casa de Arte (Former member Pat Works studio on Brennan). He has been to Rotary an number of times and would very much like to be a member. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- We have been asked by Rotary District 5170 to hold a vote on the following 4 items. The actual vote will be December 17 at the regular meeting. We will have handouts for those who would like the full text at the December 10th meeting. The four items are: 1. Asses all members of Rotary $.50 for two years to restore the home of Paul Harris. 2. Rotary International will not undertake another major project until the Polio Plus program is completed. 3.To enhance Rotary's public image through increased news coverage by calling for greater involvment by Rotary Districts and Clubs in the public relations process. 4. To add a 5th Avenues of Service to the existing 4 and it will be Youth Service ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: Dear fellow Rotarians: The Salvation Army needs you to contribute at least one hour of your busy time to help out at the bell ringing stations. If you really are too busy and if you have an employee, could you send your employee for at least an hour of service? Georgann Cowles will bring a signup sheet with open slots to Wednesday's meeting, and hopefully we will step up to the cause. If Arne Thirup can give six hours, can we not give at least one hour? Lets make our club shine as the Chamber of Commerce saw to award.... 'ONE HOUR"? Salvation Army Bell Ringing Opportunities…The Salvation Army is looking for bell ringers at the Aptos Post Office, Aptos Safeway, Deluxe Foods, Watsonville Post Office, Gottschalks, Watsonville Safeway, Watsonville Nob Hill, Watsonville K Mart, Watsonville Longs Drugs and Aromas Post Office. The need is from November 24 through to Christmas Eve. There are four shifts per day. 10-Noon. ------------------------------------------------------ The next Board meeting will be December 16, 2008 at 12 Noon at KBK Insurance, Detective…We can report that Gil Courtney was not the detective last week.
